"Are You Out of Business?"

In Business with Essential Oils

Primal Hints In Business with Essential Oils

I was delighted last week when I received a call from a customer I had not talked to in years!  “Where have you been?” she said. I thought you were out of business!” WOW! was I surprised to hear that!

She concluded this when she no longer saw my ad in a local health magazine. I was thoughtful for a moment before I shared with her that although I was well known through the advertising, it was much more lucrative for the magazine than for me!

As I described my current focus–certification classes in aromatherapy–she was joyous that I was ‘still around’ and teaching. This incident gave me pause to scrutinize just what I have been doing these past two years? Certainly they have been two very fluid and ‘life changing’ years sprinkled with divorce, death and consequently new beginnings.

These last two years have not been a ‘check out’ professionally but a ‘check in’. After years of health fairs, festivals, a magnitude of speaking engagements and a wide variety of classes on a wide variety of subjects, I felt I was making such a tiny impact in  the changing  of health attitudes and conditions.  It was while I was at one of my lowest ebbs that one of my customers and good friend said to me, “You need to develop a certification course for aromatherapists!” At looked at her and thought, ‘She has sniffed too much jasmine!’ I can’t do that, I am not ready, I do not know enough and on and on it went but she was relentless! In fact, as we sat at my shop table, we discussed the course outline. This discussion along with NAHA (National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists) guidelines led to my Certification Course and Primal Hints School of Aromatherapy.

Two students graduated from Primal Hints School of Aromatherapy in December, 2009; eight students graduated in March, 2011; and three students graduated  May, 2011. My fourth class begins January 14, 2012 and a fifth  class January 28, 2012. At this time I am also teaching competency classes for RNs  in the Wake Med Baptist Hospitals, Winston Salem and  five nurses from Baptist Hospitals* will begin the  thirteen month Certification Course in January.  From my perspective, we need all the aromatherapists we can educate to heal the world. And that my dear friends is what I have been doing!

*Five RNs from the Moses Cone Health System have completed the Certification Course for Aromatherapists.  Those nurses are now teaching the 9 hour Competency Course to RNs in the Moses Cone Health Care System, Greensboro, NC.

Please see my website www.primalhints.com for class schedules; call me-336-292-6846- or email me-cheryl@primalhints.com for more information on the Certification or Competency Classes.  The Certification Course and Competency Class award Educational Hours for LMBTs.

Blessings to You All,
