Wild, Wonderful Winter!

Falling Into Wild, Wonderful Winter!

It’s hard to believe that before we know it Winter will arrive with a blast!  What a season—filled with gusty winds, soft snowflakes, frosty mornings, chilly nights and colds, flu and sinus stuff!

There are ways to avoid infections and enjoy all the thrilling, chilling activities of fall and winter.

Firstly, many Americans continue their daily living activities in spite of sickness, often due to economic issues and/or fear of jeopardizing their employment status.

It beneficial for all of us to stay home and care for ourselves when we are ill.

It there really anything that cannot wait just one more day to complete?

Our bodies, minds and spirits need rest to heal.

Sometimes looking at a cold as a gift to obtain some rest is very freeing.

Tips on Preventing Colds and Flu

☼Minimize your exposure to crowds in closed spaces such as movies and restaurants—one uncovered sneeze can infect many!

☼Drink plenty of liquids such as filtered water with a slice of citrus fruit and herbal teas.

☼Get extra rest  and relax with a good book in a comfortable, warm spot

When You Feel a Cold or Flu Coming On

Go to bed, rest, drink plenty of  liquids.  You will find that if you rest at the onset of a cold, you will shorten its course and bounce back quicker.

Inhale essential oils from steamy water several times a day  as the steam opens nasal passages, soothes respiratory  membranes and loosens secretions.

Your Granny’s Cold and Flu is a miracle! By Saturday morning (started using the oils Friday afternoon) I felt like a new person—Thank you so much for doing that for me!

Make Sense, Save Cents, Enjoy Scents

Make Sense, Save Cents, Enjoy Scents

Yesterday one of my Aromatherapy Certification classes discussed the value of essential oils from three perspectives:

1. Therapeutic

2. Economic

3. Aesthetic

Although most students sign up for classes based on the fact that they love beautiful scents, they soon learn that essential oils do much more than smell divine.  For instance, let’s examine orange essential oil-citrus sinensis- which possesses three valuable qualities:

1.      Aromatic (Wonderfully )

2.      Economical-$6 and under for a minimum of 200 drops

3.      Effective -as a disinfectant, insecticide and mood elevator

With an 4 oz spray bottle, distilled water, witchazel and 60 drops of orange essential oil you can:

1.      Eliminate airborne virus

2.      Create a space that is refreshing, relaxing and mood elevating

3.      Deodorize sheets, curtains, towels—any material except velvet and satin.

In less than 5 minutes, you can replenish your spray bottle (with your $6 or less purchase) 2 times and have 20 drops of orange essential oil left for potpourri (made from ‘stuff’ you collect on your walk or out of your garden.)

Makes good sense, cents and scents to me!
